SAR Pulls Injured Hiker From Malibu Gorge

MALIBU—The Los Angeles County Fire Department and the Malibu Search and Rescue Team worked in conjunction to rescue an injured female hiker from Malibu Creek State Park.

The rescue effort occurred on Wednesday, April 1 at approximately 12 p.m. after a hiker in her 20s fell and struck a rock face.

SAR and the LAFD worked in conjunction to rescue the hiker from a gorge in Malibu Creek State Park.

Malibu SAR and the LAFD discovered the woman in a gorge within the park, a popular place where more adventurous Malibu hikers and rock climbers venture to test their skill.

To extricate the woman from the gorge, the SAR deployed a team traveling by boat. Once she was pulled from the gorge, firefighters prepared her for transport to a local hospital for treatment on her broken leg.

The rescue attempt lasted nearly two hours. The identity of the injured hiker remains unknown.
