UNITED STATES—Its hot people. The summer, sweltering heat has been unleashed and as a result, temperatures in all 50 states are at its peak. There is nothing exciting (at least for me) in dealing with temperatures at 90 degrees or higher. When the temperature rises, your energy costs are going to go up. Why? Your electricity is going to increase significantly and if you have central air, the air is going to be running nonstop.

What does that mean? Higher electric and gas costs. The utility companies are just greedy. My electric and gas company has implemented a peak hours BS where utilizing your electricity or gas during the hours of 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. will yield higher costs. This is so disheartening because of course people are using their air conditioners, central air and so much more during these peak hours.

Why are you trying to rob the consumer who is loading your pockets to begin with. This is what angers so many Americans. We’re already paying so much for essential services, yet these utility companies are always asking for more and more without no explanation. Our energy company is asking for a price increase, but we just had a slew of storms, knock out power to thousands during a heat wave during the holiday weekend. You know what happened? It took them days for people to have their power restored.

Don’t sit here and ask me to pay more, when you can’t do your damn best to restore my power in a decent time frame. It’s hot. The food in my fridge is NOT GOING TO LAST A WEEK WITHOUT POWER! Nor will the items in my freezer. To make matters worse you want to offer me a measly $40 credit for a power outage. No sir, that is not going to do, you can do much better than that when you’re earning billions of dollars.

I love that the news has blasted these utility companies for their antics so they can’t hide behind what is actually unfolding. When in the hot seat all they do is stutter and not know how to respond. Oh, I have smoke too for the water company that is constantly trying to make consumers think they are using thousands of thousands of gallons of water when it’s not the case at all. They are another that is constantly rising rates because of corporate greed.

We as consumers have power and we need to use it more and put these companies on blast with their antics. If no one calls them out on their bad behavior, guess what they’re going to keep doing it and you know who pays the price: you do! They have enough money when it comes to an operating budget and making a massive profit. If you are not making the upgrades to make my service, you should not be charging more for the exact same service.
