NORWALK, CA—The Southern California Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (SCRID) will be holding their “It’s a Deaf Deaf World” event on April 26 to exhibit deaf people overcoming barriers. The event encourages those new to ASL and those who have had plenty of practice, to participate in the 90 minute long interactive workshops on communication strategies.

SCRID’s mission statement states that their goal is to gather and register interpreters and to encourage the “interpretation and transliteration of American Sign Language and English.”

The event starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m. Lunch and dinner will be offered at the event with vegetarian options. Those that wish to attend the event had to RSVP by April 11 by contacting Ed Kelly at ekelly@cerritos.edu. The cost to attend the event is $35 dollars. The event will take place at the Cerritos Collegelocated on 11110 Alondra Boulevard in Norwalk, CA.
