MALIBU—The Malibu coastline was subject to some unsettling conditions after an estimated 500 gallons of diluted sewage spilled into the ocean, shutting down a chunk of the beach.

The beach was closed for 100 yards on each side of the 31500 block of Victoria Point. The area is not a popular beachfront because of a lack of soft sand and public access during high tide.

Now that last weekend’s rain advisory has ended, Malibu city officials will thoroughly test the surrounding water for contaminants.

No specific details regarding the sewage spill were immediately available.
