GRIFFITH PARK—The Eighth Annual Shatterproof Walk to End Addiction will return to Griffith Park on November 7. Shatterproof Walk launched in 2017 to unite communities and restore hope for those impacted by addiction or substance use disorder.

Shatterproof Walk is a nationwide event that has only grown every year, raising funds, advocacy, treatment access, and prevention programs for Americans living with substance use disorder.

Hundreds of people are expected to gather in Griffith Park for the walk. Organizers of the event say that the event will also include a Community Resource Center. The Community Resource Center will feature treatment, recovery, and family-support resources and remembrance activities, and personal stories from those affected by substance abuse.

Shatterproof CEO cited data indicating that about one in six people in California and Los Angeles County had a substance abuse disorder within the previous year.

“Progress is possible, but too many families are still struggling to find the care and support they need,” said Shatterproof CEO Pam Jenkins in a statement ahead of the Shatterproof Walk event.

The walk is one of six other events held around the country as part of Shatterproof’s main goal to address and raise awareness of substance use disorder.

The walk will be held at Griffith Park located at 4669 Crystal Springs Drive, on Saturday, November 7. The walk site opening at 8 a.m. and the walk kickoff will take place at 10 a.m. The route will be accessible and dog-friendly include a water station.
