HOLLYWOOD—It’s hard to believe that by summer’s end, the HBO hit series “True Blood” will be in the record books. Yep, the seventh season will be its last, and the indictor of the first episode “Jesus Gonna Be Here” proved that it will be a bloodbath to the final end.
When audiences last left off, it appeared all was back to normal in Bon Temps with the all powerful Lilith no more, and Bill (Stephen Moyer) back to his original self. The entire gang was celebrating at Bellefleur’s when a crazy attack by H-vamps sent the town into a panic with a bloodbath in its aftermath.
Sookie (Anna Paquin), Alcide (Joe Manganiello) and Bill (Stephen Moyer) did their best to fend off the vicious attack. Sookie was nearly devastated in the aftermath of the chaos, the biggest jaw-dropped was the realization that Holly (Lauren Bowles) and Arlene (Carrie Preston) are missing and Tara (Rutina Wesley) is DEAD! Yeah, in a matter of three minutes, a major player is no more. The news left Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) an emotional wreck. Sookie began to read minds, which left her in a fractured state of mind, as everyone blamed her for the chaos.
Sam (Sam Trammell) was in a tricky place after his former mayoral opponent discovered that he is a shape-shifter. It looks like he’ll have a lot of explaining to do. Sookie wandered into the wilderness all alone and stumbled across a dead body, but didn’t give it much attention. I have reason to believe this dead body is more important than the audience thinks. Pam (Kristen Bauer) found herself in the midst of a showdown, as religion attempted to reason with her, but she won in the end. I have a reason to believe that Pam is on a mission to locate Eric (Alexander Skarsgard), who may or may not be dead. Adilyn (Bailey Noble) attempted to shatter the walls between her and Jessica, as they discussed boyfriends. Andy (Chris Bauer) made it clear to his daughter not to allow Jessica into the house, no matter what.
Alcide unleashed a bit of rage on Sookie for disappearing, just as she lashed out at her lover for refusing to acknowledge the hurtful thoughts he had about her. Jason (Ryan Kwanten) unleashed his emotions with Violet (Karolina Wydra) about the loss he’s feeling, but were interrupted by a group of humans who were hell bent on protecting their own breed at all costs.
Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) got close with his new vamp protector, revealing that he was relived that his cousin Tara is now gone for good. I had to say this, but that sounds quite harsh coming from family. Looks like Lafayette could have a new love interest? Jason was so upset with Violet from stealing his manhood from him, he decided make love to her in a way that she never expected on the hood of a police car. Remember this is “True Blood” people.
Holly and Arlene and several others including Sam’s pregnant lover Nicole (Jurnee Smollett) prayed and begged for their lives to be spared by the H-vamps. Bill’s attempt to bridge a gap between him and Andy was a no go; it appears revenge is something that Andy has on his mind. Jessica did her best to resist her craving for Adilyn as she protected her from a vampire on the loose. Concerned for Jessica’s safety, Adilyn invited the vampress into her home. Hmm, that might have been a bad idea, a really bad idea.
In church, Sookie was so uncomfortable after being called out by Lettie Mae Thornton (Adina Porter) about her involvement with what has transpired she lashed out. She made it crystal clear to all that she can hear their THOUGHTS! She gave a speech, attempting to let the town know she wanted to bridge a gap to eradicate the bloody mess that is taking place.
It looks like season seven will be Sookie vs. the town of Bon Temps. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that Tara is truly gone. If the first episode is any indicator of what’s to come, fans will be dropping many more tears to those we care most about. See you next Sunday at 9 p.m. “True Blood” lovers!
