FLORIDA—On Saturday, December 15, the results of the defamation lawsuit filed by President-elect, Donald J. Trump against ABC News and ABC News Anchor George Stephanopoulos over disparaging and untrue remarks he made against former and future President Trump.
During the March 10 segment of This Week with Stephanopoulos stated that in two civil suits, Trump was found civilly liable for raping journalist E. Jean Carrol.
That is not true. Multiple news outlets spread the lies Stephanopoulos told about Trump that day on ABC. On December 16, Canyon News discovered that the free encyclopedia, Wikipedia, available via the internet still notes the incorrect data reported on ABC by Stephanopoulos. In their defense, Wikipedia does allow random people to update information on their site. In this case, the information posted is not accurate.
Trump filed the defamation case against ABC and George Stephanopoulos on March 19.
ABC and Stephanopoulos are to pay $15 million to the Trump library made as a charitable contribution along with $1 million in legal fees to Trump’s attorney, Alejandro Brito. In addition, Stephanopoulos is to make a public apology for repeatedly making false statements following the outcome of a civil suit brought against Trump by author and columnist, E. Jean Carroll.
E. Jean Carroll did allege that she was raped by Trump, in her defamation of character lawsuit. Trump, publicly denied this claim, stating at his Trump rallies, “She isn’t my type.”
Trump is now the most investigated President in U.S. history. The attacks against him began with impeachment rhetoric that started in 2015 when Donald J. Trump accepted the Republican nomination to run for President of the United States in the 2016 election. After nine years of scrutiny, attacks, and smear tactics, news outlets will be held accountable in libel suits for misrepresentation of the truth.
Kari Lake, the former gubernatorial Republican nominee for the state of Arizona, has stated on Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social, that she will be leading an international news outlet, Voice of America.
“I am proud of President Trump and the fight he has shown and the movement he’s led in this country.
I’m looking forward to this opportunity to serve in this incredible administration and make sure that all of his achievements are covered fairly and accurately at Voice of America.” – Kari Lake
