BURBANK–Urban Press Winery is celebrating their 7th anniversary beginning on Thursday, November 16. This historic milestone is offering $7 food items and wine by the glass.

Seven years ago, Giovianni D’Andrea had a dream of bringing wines from across the globe to Southern California, which served as the inspiration behind Urban Press Winery in Burbank. To celebrate their 7th anniversary Urban Press Winery Restaurant invites one and all to visit this trendy hotspot.

Open every Wednesday through Friday from 11:30PM to 2:30PM, and all day and night on Thursday November 16, the celebration is a must visit.

Anniversary specials include Beet Salad, a scrumptious Kobe Beef UP Burger, Arrabbiata, Truffle Pizza, Margherita Pizza, Golden Cannoli and Select Glasses of UPW wines.

“What was I thinking?” jokes D’Andrea about the origins of this expedition, where his life intertwined like grapes on a vine.

D’Andrea, who originally hails from Montreal, started making wine about 20 years ago when he moved from Canada to California. He started Urban Press Winery and Carnosa Kitchen in Burbank to showcase his award-winning wines paired with traditional Italian food.

“The grapes for our wines come from leading vineyards across California, from Napa to Calistoga and beyond. We are proud to showcase such a wide selection of wines ranging from Prosecco to Rose to Pinot Noir,” beams Giovanni.

A brand-new kitchen opened in 2019, hiring Executive Chef Edgar Delarosa. It’s easy to be optimistic about the future.

His charming presence and expertise puts others in fantastic spirits, (no pun intended). He makes every guest feel like his personal friend visiting the home on a Saturday night. He loves his red wines, this charismatic artist.

D’Andrea is also excited to introduce new additions to the cocktail menu, including “The 316” made with Urban Press Red Blend, lime, cola-infused syrup, Luxardo cherry syrup, and “Lemon Up” made with Lyric Champagne and sparkling Limonata, served in a sugar-rimmed champagne glass.

UPW is continuing to evolve, adding a gorgeous Piazza, (a picturesque and spacious public square, not the former LA Dodgers catcher I once believed.)

“Many people are unaware that Los Angeles is the birthplace of California winemaking,” said owner and winemaker Giovianni D’Andrea. “A DNA analysis of vines that still produce fruit at Olvera Street dates back to 1818. In 1850. We are thrilled to give patrons the opportunity to sample some of the best wines in the world.”

Urban Press Winery hosted Todd Hunter’s release party for his latest album, “Postcards from Brazil, Volume Two.” Hunter and his quartet performed some music off the album including the song “New Beginning,” in which multi-Grammy award winning singer, Dionne Warwick, appeared and sang in a dazzling night of Bossa Nova Jazz music.

Gio told me that Ms. Warwick enjoyed the experience, even divulging her people have reached out and expressed interest in future performances.

It begins on Thursday night, November 16. Here is a toast to another seven years!
