City Of Malibu Offers Winter Camps For Youth

MALIBU—The City of Malibu Parks and Recreation department is offering a variety of winter camps for youth during the school break. Sport activities include basketball, soccer, baseball and tennis.

Canyon News spoke to Katie Gallo, Sr. Research Coordinator for the City of Malibu about the winter camps. “Day Camps have been offered for the past 15 years approximately during winter, spring and summer breaks of the SMMUSD calendar. The programs consist of a variety of supervised activities including enrichment, sports and surf camps,” said Gallo.

Surf camps are offered in the summer only. The city is also offering a Winter Wonderland Camp, featuring a fairy tale theme with stories, crafts, dress up, music and dance.

Specific camp information is listed below. Participants may register online for the sports or Winter Wonderland camps.

The registration deadline is the Friday before the camp begins. Walk up registration is available, but space is limited. Each camp has a minimum number of participants required before the camp begins.

In an effort to make these activities affordable for all Malibu residents, the Department of Parks and Recreation is accepting donations to be used in their scholarship fund.

Winter Wonderland Camp

Ages: 4 to 7; 8 participant minimum

Price: $199/$75 daily

Dates: M-W December 21-23

Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Location: City Hall, Backstage Room

Basketball camp

Ages: 6 to 12; 5 participant minimum

Price: $155/$60 daily

Dates: M-W December 28-30

Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Location: Malibu High School Gymnasium
