BEL AIR— On April 17, a suspect carjacked a vehicle from Galpin Motors auto dealership in North Hills. The suspect was allegedly armed with an assault-style rifle and led police on a high-speed pursuit throughout the San Fernando Valley and Bel-Air.

The carjacking was reported to authorities on Wednesday at around 8:35 p.m. The Galpin Motors auto dealership is located in the 15400 block of Roscoe Boulevard.

The pursuit proceeded through Van Nuys, Sherman Oaks, Tarzana, and Encino, before ending in Bel Air. The suspect ran red lights and weaved in and out of oncoming traffic at high speeds.

He turned into a cul-de-sac and slowed down after clipping a police vehicle, where white smoke began emitting from the car. The suspect surrendered and was handcuffed on a residential street in the 900 block of Moraga Drive.

The suspect’s identity has not been released to the public. There were no reports of any injuries during the incident.
