BEVERLY HILLS—The Beverly Hills Cultural Heritage Commission congregated on Tuesday, September 30 to discuss the suggestion to name the fountain located in Will Rogers’ Park after Margaret J. Anderson, the Beverly Hills Hotel Founder.

The item was suggested by the City Council during their September 2 meeting, where they expressed support for the project proposal. Will Rogers Memorial Park is a public park located at 9650 Sunset Blvd. near the intersection of N. Canon Drive and N. Beverly Drive.

Back in 1915, hotelier and city pioneer Margaret J. Anderson and her son Stanley donated the land to the City. No other historic name has been linked to the fountain. The proposal is also asking for a commemorative plaque to be placed on the site.

The commission also discussed a suggestion to reject nomination for landmark designation to a property located on 625 Mountain Drive in Beverly Hills.

The Beverly Hills Cultural Heritage Commission considered a Mills Act Contract for the McGilvray House located at 804 N. Alpine Drive and the Landmark Property, Joe E. Brown Residence at 707 Walden Drive.
