UNITED STATES—On Sunday, November 25, rocks and pieces of cement were thrown at U.S. Border Patrol Agents by some migrants, including women and children who were being pushed while other migrants tried to tear down the border fence. One individual went as far as to set a tree on fire.

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents (CBP) indicated they suspended northbound and southbound crossings for both pedestrians and vehicles at the San Ysidro port of entry at approximately 11:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Tear gas was fired into the crowd in an attempt to control the crowd after migrants tried to force their way through the border at various entries.

“What I find unconscionable is that people would take children intentionally into this situation. What we saw over and over yesterday [Sunday] was that the group, the caravan as we call them would push women and children toward the front and then begin, basically rocking our agents. We try specifically to target the instigators, the person assaulting the agent, but as you saw, once that chemical is released, it does go through the air… I inhaled quite a bit of it yesterday,” said Chief Patrol Agent, Rodney Scott to CNN.

“As I have continually stated, DHS will not tolerate this type of lawlessness and will not hesitate to shut down ports of entry for security and public safety reasons,” said U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen. “We will also seek to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law anyone who destroys federal property, endangers our frontline operators, or violates our Nation’s sovereignty,” Nielsen added.

“Mexico should move the flag waving Migrants, many of whom are stone cold criminals, back to their countries. Do it by plane. Do it by bus, do it anyway you want, but they are not coming to the U.S.A. We will close the border permanently if need be. Congress, fund the WALL,” President Trump tweeted.
