MALIBU—A portion of Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu is currently under construction. The project commenced on Friday, March 16 and the speed limit in the region has been lowered to 30 mph, as a result as Caltrans completes its expansion.

The construction is transpiring between Meadows Court and Latigo Canyon Road in the work zone for the Caltrans Escondido Slope Stabilization Project. Fines are doubled in the work zone.

The 1.5 mile stretch of highway is considered a “Safety Enhancement Double Fine Zone.” The construction follows the development of the Escondido Slope Stabilization Project. Construction on the project started in 2017. Caltrans expects the project to be completed by fall 2019.
