SANTA MONICA—The city of Santa Monica’s Public Landscape department plan to resurface Clover Park’s basketball court, as well as Douglas Park’s tennis courts until June 2020. Playground areas in Santa Monica are inspected every weekday for safety deficiencies. In November 2019, park maintenance staff resurfaced courts at Santa Monica parks that involved cleaning and patching the surfaces followed by adding a new layer of sand and paint.

Santa Monica Urban Forest Supervisor, Wister Dorta, collaborated on sourcing and installing nine, 18-foot tall, date palm trees in November 2019 that will provide canopy for The City Services Building courtyard. The City Services Building is an addition to City Hall that is scheduled to open in April 2020.

Santa Monica Pier Maintenance completed the installation of ADA-compliant handrails on the northern staircase at the SM Pier leading down to the sand in November 2019. The new diameter provides gripping surface and extended handrail to further assist users transitioning from the stairs to the landing.
