MALIBU—At 9 p.m. on August 26, the City of Malibu announced that at its meeting on August 24, the city council recognized Bill Melcher, a member of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Malibu Volunteers On Patrol.
Earlier in August, he helped locate a driver on the Pacific Coast Highway suspected of driving under the influence and helped apprehend the driver. His actions helped remove the driver from the highway and helped prevent an incident.
Melcher is also a third-year student at Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law.
The City of Malibu thanks him for his service and his actions.
Members of Malibu Volunteers On Patrol assist the LASD Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station by performing non-emergency duties.
