SANTA MONICA—At 6:42 a.m. on September 26, a murder-suicide involving a married couple, occurred in a residence in the 3100 block of Pico Boulevard that the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has confirmed the husband’s identity as Hendrik Rabitzsch, 48.
The medical examiner determined the manner of his death, as suicide caused by a perforating (hole-making) gunshot wound to the head. The medical examiner has not yet revealed his wife’s name, pending notification of the next of kin or the cause of her death.
At 9:39 p.m., officers from the Santa Monica Police Department arrived at the residence to conduct a welfare check. Inside the home, they discovered two bodies and discovered a firearm. Early findings of the investigation suggest Rabitzsch shot his wife and then himself. The SMPD noted its an isolated incident with no other individuals involved, and there is no threat to the public.
