BEVERLY HILLS—In a statement given to the Canyon News by Lieutenant Lincoln Hoshino of the Beverly Hills Department, it was confirmed that a cement truck which was traveling southbound on Loma Vista Drive struck several unoccupied parks cars along the way at approximately 11:00 a.m.

Lieutenant Hoshino told Canyon News that since the construction accident on May 2, The Beverly Hills Police Department has increased enforcement in the area including commercial vehicle enforcement and issuance of traffic citations for various violations.

The City is also developing stringent regulations to control truck traffic on high-risk streets through the construction permit process. Enhanced Police Department enforcement in the area will also continue.

The incident has the BHPD concerned about the community regarding commercial vehicles that travel in the Trousdale region and surrounding streets. Hoshino stressed on that this has become a critical public safety issue which the BHPD and other city departments are aggressively working together to avoid future accidents.

Lt. Hoshino concluded that the driver of the cement truck was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in serious condition by the Beverly Hills Fire Department. There were no further injuries and pictures of the scene have not yet been released.

Loma Vista Drive was expected to re-open by 5 p.m. on May 5.
