HOLLYWOOD—Well it was indeed an epic battle at the box-office this weekend, as “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” was unleashed onto moviegoers with stunning results. The long-awaited battle rose to the top spot with $170 million since its release Thursday evening for the Easter holiday weekend. The movie also earned the highest debut for the month of March; a record previously held by “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” which brought in $152 million in 2013.

While “Batman V. Superman” did big business at the box-office, so did a few other flicks. “Zootopia” added another $23.1 million to its tally to land in second place. The animated flick has earned a domestic tally of $240.5 million. A sequel in the waiting, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2” landed in third place with an impressive $18.1 million. It looks like there was still an audience eagerly waiting for the follow-up to this box-office hit from nearly 15 years ago.

Nabbing fourth place was “Allegiant” with only $9.5 million. To say the third installment in the “Divergent” franchise is struggling would be a massive understatement. Rounding out the top five was the Jennifer Garner flick “Miracles From Heaven” which brought in solid numbers during its second week in theaters with $9.5 million. With no major flicks being released this coming weekend, expect “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” to remain on top at the box-office this coming weekend as well.
