SANTA MONICA—Officers from the Santa Monica Police Department spent Monday, January 26, at Santa Monica High School because a bomb threat was reported over the weekend.

According to reporting by KTLA, Marae Cruce, the principal of Santa Monica High School, released a letter to the high school community after 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, stating that on Sunday morning, the high school received a computer-generated voicemail alleging that on Monday, bombs, which were claimed to have been placed on the campus, were going to go off.

The Santa Monica Police Department used a drone and a bomb-sniffing dog to sweep the high school campus. The search found no suspicious packages or odors, and the Santa Monica Police Department gave the school the all-clear to continue normal school operations.

Members of the Santa Monica High School Community have been asked to be wary of any abandoned or suspicious items they might find on campus.

School advisors were on hand to offer counsel to students who experienced distress during the school day, along with members of the school’s mental health team.
