STUDIO CITY—On June 11, the Los Angeles City Planning Commission approved a massive development project in Studio City while denying two appeals against the project.

Riverwalk at Studio City will include 814 new apartments, 76,000 square feet of commercial space, and a four-level underground parking structure that the developer says will hold more than 1,800 vehicles. A total of 46 units are being specifically set aside for low-income affordable housing.

Several spaces on the site are currently vacant, and according to the developer, some may return once the project is complete while others may relocate.

According to the project’s website, planned retail may include “cafes, restaurants, and retail that reflect and complement the surrounding community.” Vehicles will be able to enter the Riverwalk through two designated access points on Ventura Boulevard and two more on Valleyheart Drive.

The development is a joint venture between Genton Property Group, RC Development, and Torino Companies.

MVE + Partners is designing the residential component, with AO acting as the retail design consultant. The developer says construction could start in late 2027 and be completed by 2033.
