NORTHRIDGE—The California State University, Northridge (CSUN)’s National Center on Deafness (NCOD) kicks off their 50 year of Enlightenment Seminars with yoga taught in ASL on Wednesday, February 5. The seminar is part of a series of Enlightenment Seminars put on by the NCOD.

The seminar will be taught by Jessica “Kalyani” Frank, a certified deaf yoga instructor who “has spent the past two and a half years teaching Hatha yoga classes and numerous workshops on yoga philosophy in southern California,” according to a flyer from the CSUN/NCOD website. Frank also teaches deaf studies at the CSUN campus.

The seminar is meant to promote a sense of peace, by focusing on three components of the Self: the mind, the body and the soul. The seminar not only teaches yoga, but providing knowledge and insight on mediation, breathing techniques and vegetarianism to fully infuse the attendees in mindset.

The class will be held at 5:00 p.m. and will go on unto 6:30 p.m. in CSUN/NCOD Multi-Purpose Room; it will be free to attend for both students and the community. It will be located at 18111 Nordhoff Street Northridge,CA 91330-8267. CSUN parking costs $6.
