WESTWOOD—An automatic alarm was set off at 1611 South Westwood Blvd. on Sunday, January 12 when higher than normal levels of carbon monoxide were reported by companies in the region. The Los Angeles Fire Department indicated via Twitter they were made aware of the dangers at 11:44 a.m.

Starbucks and Subway were temporarily shut down as the Los Angeles Fire Department Hazardous Materials Squad responded with monoxide sensing equipment.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, a commercial cleaning operation was utilizing equipment with a small gasoline powered engine at underground parking levels indicated Nicholas Prange of the LAFD. Operations were shut down at Starbucks and Subway to restore proper ventilation to the affected regions, before business could resume normal operations in the area.
