HOLLYWOOD—This week’s leading ladies gold standard goes to three actresses in daytime television who showed us what exciting divas they can be, and that they are not to be toyed with. Hunter Tylo, who portrays Dr. Taylor Hayes on “The Bold and the Beautiful”; Sarah Joy Brown, who portrays Agnes Jones on “The Bold and the Beautiful”; and Sharon Case, who portrays Sharon Newman on “The Young and the Restless,” each had interesting supporting scenes this week. All three ladies and their characters left us entertained and wanting more.
Taylor, played by Hunter Tylo, has had a rough few weeks. She can’t seem to make her son, Thomas, realize that he needs to stay away from Brooke Logan. Taylor has lost every husband she’s ever had to Brooke; she’s also seen the damage a scandal with Brooke can bring to the men who love her. Thomas is using his sexy stepmother Brooke for a marketing campaign, but it’s almost too much for his mother Taylor to bear. Already about to flip at any moment, when Taylor also finally finds out that her current husband, Whip, is the one who took the sexy photograph of Thomas and Brooke in the Forrester dressing room and leaked it to an Internet gossip site, she will probably have a coronary.
Hunter is playing the scenes brilliantly. She leaves us asking for more, and when we get more of Tylo, it’s still exciting to watch. This was Taylor’s week for despair. She’s begged Thomas and threatened Brooke to stay away from each other. No one listens to her, but it’s about to blow up in their faces.
Sarah Joy Brown, who portrays Agnes, also had a dramatic week. She went to her cousin Whip and warned him that his leaking of that photo of Thomas and Brooke is going to be his undoing. Whip is far too arrogant right now to listen. He is almost like the cat that ate the canary. However, Brown did a marvelous job of playing a concerned relative, who knows that her cousin’s mistake is going to end his marriage and maybe his career. Brown’s coming into her own in this role. Initially I was reluctant to see the need for Agnes, but as always, trust Brad Bell and you will be entertained.
CBS soaps were off on Friday, December 31, but not before Sharon Case, who plays Sharon Newman, had the most amazing and dramatic scenes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. By Thursday, we were wondering what else could go wrong in Sharon’s life. After flying to Hawaii to track down Skye, who is pretending to be dead in order to set Adam up for her murder, Sharon played detective, and she found her suspect. When Sharon hiked up the volcano in order to see if anyone knew where Skye was, we were stunned to find her standing right in front of Sharon by the end of Tuesday’s episode. The showdown and catfight between the two ladies started verbally and ended in utter disaster. Sharon’s now found herself in need of ex-father-in-law Victor’s help. Maria Bell knows that consummate actress Sharon Case plays the consummate heroine Sharon Newman with aplomb.
