WEST HOLLYWOOD—Hollywood insider, author and producer Luke Yankee peels back the layers of his private life in his memoir “Just Outside the Spotlight.” This is one of the most moving and heartwarming biography in years. When you get to know the author, it makes sense why his book is so popular. Luke Yankee has directed, produced, taught, lectured and acted throughout the country and abroad. He has run two regional theatres, serving as Producing Artistic Director of the Long Beach Civic Light Opera (one of the largest musical theatres in America) and the Struthers Library theatre, a historic landmark in northwestern Pennsylvania. Growing up as the son of one of Hollywood’s most legendary character actresses, he learned first hand how powerful words and actions could be.

Also as a filmmaker, Luke wrote and directed the short film, “Help Is On The Way” starring Lois DeBanzie. He also created “E.H. On Film: An Eileen Heckart Retrospective” and “Barbara Eden: Still Dreaming.” Heckart was Luke’s mother, who was a beloved figure in Hollywood, who became an advocate for civil rights of not only her peers in the industry, but also for African Americans around the nation.
