LOS FELIZ—A 27 year-old man suffered severe burns and lost his dog in a fire that consumed his two-story home on Monday, December 9. 

The Los Angeles Fire Department informed the public that a fire ignited the residence descending hillside at 3721 W. Evans St. in Los Feliz at approximately 9:47 a.m. It took 43 LAFD firefighters 21 minutes to extinguish the fire, ensuring the flames remained solely on the street level (top) floor of the home. 

The victim sustained severe burn injuries and was listed in serious condition by paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department. He was transported to a nearby hospital.

Firefighters discovered and rescued an unresponsive dog inside the home, but despite efforts from LAFD responders to revive the dog, the animal died on the scene.

Three other individuals inside the home, were not injured during the fire. Damage to the home and the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the LAFD.
