BEL AIR—A motorist was killed on Sunday, February 16, while traveling northbound on the 405 Freeway, by a wrong-way driver, the California Highway Patrol indicated. The crash was a head-on collision that transpired around 2:30 a.m., not far from Getty Center Drive.

The CHP alerted the public about the crash via a SigAlert. Officials have not indicated why the driver was traveling in the wrong direction on the freeway or if they were under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

All lanes on the 405 were closed as officials completed their investigation. According to the CHP log, lanes were re-opened to motorist before 8 a.m. The deadly crash remains under investigation. The name of the victim has not been disclosed to the public.
