LOS ANGELES–The Los Angeles Lakers snapped a two game losing streak, defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder 111-109 on Tuesday, November 22.

Nick Young scored 17 points while hitting a go-ahead 3-pointer with five seconds remaining to seal the game for Los Angeles.

The Lakers are now 8-7 under rookie head coach Luke Walton, who was complimentary of Young after the game.

“It was a pretty incredible shot by him,” Walton said. “Obviously one of the reasons we like Nick on the court at the end of the game is because he is not afraid of the moment. He loves the big moment.”

Timofey Mozgov scored 16 points for Los Angeles while Jordan Clarkson added 18 off the bench; Lou Williams had 13 points and five assists.

Starting point guard D’Angelo Russell sat out for the second time in three games with a sore left knee.

Los Angeles native Russell Westbrook had 34 points, 8 rebounds and 13 assists for the Thunder, who have lost two of their last three games. The five time all-star had an opportunity to tie or take the lead, but missed a 3-pointer as time expired. Steven Adams added 20 points and six rebounds.

Oklahoma City is now 8-7 overall, tied with Los Angeles for sixth in the Western Conference.

The Lakers will travel to Oakland for the first of two consecutive games against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, November 23.
