BEVERLY HILLS—A suspect attempted to fool officers from the Beverly Hills Police department by indicating he was former Stone Temple Pilots band member Scott Weiland.

On July 26, authorities received a call at approximately 9:34 a.m. of a shoplifting incident that occurred at the Rite Aid store on the 400 Block of N. Bedford Drive. Police arrested the suspect who was taken into custody for burglary and possession of a controlled substance.

On Thursday, August 21, the BHPD learned through an FBI Fingerprint Return that the suspect arrested was not Stone Temple Pilots band member Scott Weiland, but was 44 year-old Jason Michael Hurley. Authorities have indicated that an additional criminal filing on Hurley for 148.9 (a) P.C. – Furnishing False Information to a Peace Officer.
