SANTA MONICA—The Santa Monica Police Department responded around 5:47 p.m. on September 24 to a traffic collision at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and 5th Street. A vehicle struck an 82-year-old female pedestrian.
Based on its initial findings, the SMPD believes she was struck while in the crosswalk as the vehicle was turning left onto eastbound Wilshire Boulevard from the southbound side of 5th Street. Paramedics with the Santa Monica Fire Department arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for medical treatment. She is listed in critical condition. The driver remained at the scene as officers conducted their investigation.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities will release additional details as available.
