BEVERLY HILLS—This week in Hollywoodland the Screen Actors and Golden Globe nominees were announced and in typical holiday fashion a number of high profile couples decided to split as well. Oprah’s finale to her Aussie trip with 300 viewers ended with Hugh Jackman getting a black eye. All this and more in the entertainment capital of the world.

With the holiday season comes parties and premieres in Hollywood. This week I caught up with lots of family and friends, but the excitement for our film “Queen of the Lot” is still going strong. It opened to packed theaters in both San Francisco and Minneapolis last week, despite cold arctic weather pouring over the U.S. Tanna Frederick, Chris Rydell and Noah Wyle are still getting Oscar buzz, and I hope they receive their much deserved nominations next month. I am still very honored to call these three great actors costars.

Sociologists report that over 70 percent of marital and couple breakups come around during the holiday season. It was particularly sad in town this week with the splits of Ryan Reynolds and his wife Scarlett Johansson. Also on the list of partings were the “High School Musical” stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. Word has it that Zac moved out of the Studio City mansion that Vanessa purchased just two years ago, but they are remaining friends.

Just days after the fifth season finale of the hit Showtime Network series “Dexter,” the married couple, who plays siblings on the series Michael C. Hall (Dexter) and Jennifer Carpenter (Deborah), announced their separation and pending divorce. Perhaps it was best that they waited until the season ended, so that speculation and attention would remain on the outstanding final episode titled “The Big One” and not on their private life.

Oprah Winfrey showed the world that she loves Australia this past week. The talk show queen decided to fly 300 lucky audience members down under for a sendoff of her television talk show that has lasted 25 years. “Oprah met fans, she drove some residents’ crazy with high security alerts causing traffic jams, but she mainly showed the Aussies how much she loved being here. She even visited a zoo and was photographed holding a koala bear,” said Melbourne resident David Miller. “What an ending to her trip, having Aussie Hugh Jackman flying in doing his own stunt, only hitting himself in the eye when he landed against a wall. He was very concerned for his kids, who happened to be in the front row of the audience at the Sydney Opera House, but he seemed fine minutes later.”

What a week for my friends at “The Bold and the Beautiful.” Andrea Evans returns on December 28, in the role of trailer park queen Tawny Moore. Tawny is the mother of devious Amber Moore and is set to bring lots of trouble next year for viewers. Look out Spencer men, Amber and Tawny usually get whatever they want. “I am excited to have Andrea back to reprise this very special role,” executive producer and head writer Bradley P. Bell tells Canyon News. On Monday, December 20, L.A. Laker Girls Angelique, Erin, Brittney, Brilane, Ashley and Richelle will appear on the soap. On Friday’s episode Michael Buffer, known as the voice of champions made an appearance.

Last week I received such positive words about my recent book “The Prints of Classic Hollywood” that I decided to feature another one of my six books. This week I am featuring “The Making of Hollywood Stars,” which features stars of today and the past. From Elizabeth Taylor, June Allyson and Lucille Ball to Cate Blanchett, George Clooney and Angelina Jolie. This book is filled with stories and images that will enchant the lover of Hollywood and the entertainment industry of all eras. The book is published by Wasteland Press and is also available on Amazon.

Happy holidays, and see you next week! XOXO
