BENEDICT CANYON—Handsome stars and leading men are all around the city, many we watch on television and movie screens, sometimes we visit them in theatres on stage. This week’s choice for one of Hollywood’s most handsome man is the talented actor William deVry, who starred in both “All My Children” on ABC and on CBS’s “The Bold and the Beautiful.” It was deVry’s incredible performance in 2008 that contributed to “B&B” winning the well-deserved trophy for Best Daytime Dramatic Series in 2009. Between Bradley Bell’s excellent writing of the life and then death of Storm Logan and the handsome actor’s unique yet reliable performance, that gave “B&B” the edge over their three competitors to take home the gold last year.
From “Stargate SG-1” to “Beggars and Choosers” and then on to “Logan.” William has captured and succeeded in every role he’s been given. Far more than just a handsome face, deVry can pull out all the stops and any barriers an actor may find in a complex role, then make that seem as if it doesn’t exist in any of his performances. He masters the role, not as a method actor, but he totally becomes the character. On “All My Children” as Michael Cambias, he showed a dramatic and dark side to the character that many soap watchers said they saw coming. However, on “The Bold and the Beautiful,” the actor stunned the world when the character of Storm Logan went from stable family patriarch to shooter of Queen Stephanie.
With all that drama and the negative side of his character being front and center, fans still loved the actor and was able to understand his character’s reasons for protecting his sisters Brooke, Donna and Katie from their tormentor Stephanie Forrester. Only a damn good actor could handle a role that way. By the time Storm accidentally shot his sister Katie, he was a broken man. The women in his life were devastated and one would lay dying in a hospital bed from a bullet to the heart that Storm accidentally fired. Tears came streaming down the eyes of every “B&B” viewer when Storm made the unselfish decision to shoot himself in the head so that his sister Katie could live on with his heart.
All of that drama and he’s still a spectacular specimen that is considered one of Hollywood’s most handsome and sexiest leading men. No series can go wrong when it comes to hiring this great actor. His maternal grandfather was the founder of the renowned DeVry University, but this deVry is an acting legend and giant in his own right.
