BOULDER, CO—The UCLA Bruins continue to prove they are a force to be reckoned with this college football season. Away from home, the Bruins were able to add another win to the column in a close game with the Colorado Buffalos, 40-37.
This was a dog fight to the bitter end, as the game went into two double overtimes, before UCLA could claim the victory. The Bruins were explosive in the first quarter putting 17 points on the score board and leaving the Buffalos scoreless. Colorado was aware that they had to put some points onto the board or face going into half-time with an uphill battle. The team was able to score two touchdowns with the Bruins still in the lead 24-14 at half-time.
The Bruins kept the Buffalos scoreless in the third quarter, as they added another seven points to their lead. The fourth quarter proved to unleash the fight in Colorado as their defense kept UCLA scoreless, and fought hard to stay in the gaming, by scoring two touchdowns and a field goal to tie the game 31-31. This led both teams going into overtime.
In the first overtime, Bruins star Ka’imi Fairbairn scored a field goal to put the team up 34-31, but Colorado star Will Oliver matched that field goal sending the game into double overtime. Oliver stepped up to the plate again with a field goal to give Colorado a 37-34 lead, but the Bruins claimed victory when quarterback Brett Hundley scored an 8-yard touchdown giving them a 40-37 win.
With a record of 6-2, the Bruins will try to add another win to the column as they face the Arizona Wildcats on November 1.
