BEVERLY HILLS—On Friday, December 12, U.S. District Judge George Wu of the United States District Court for the Central District of California ruled that both Live Nation, which is based in Beverly Hills, and Ticket Master can face a class action lawsuit brought against them due to allegations of overcharging customers for events that are held at major concert venues.

The class action lawsuit covers customers who have purchased tickets since 2010, either from a Live Nation Affiliate or from Ticketmaster, and also covers the purchase of 400 million tickets. Live Nation and Ticketmaster have both denied any allegations of wrongdoing.

Both companies claimed that it is impossible to conduct a single trial based on the allegations due to issues with tickets for 1,000 venues. In addition, Live Nation said the venues set the fees instead of them.

Live Nation is also facing antitrust lawsuits alleging that it has created a monopoly control over ticketing services for consumers.
