WESTWOOD—At 5:47 p.m. on August 17, the UCLA Police Department announced it welcomed Josie, its first Support K9 officer, to the police department.
Josie is a 2-and-a-half-year-old yellow Labrador retriever. She is the latest member of the department’s PAWS program, which is short for Promoting Awareness, Wellness & Safety. Her job is to provide comfort to members of the UCLA community, build connections between residents and department members, and promote well-being on campus.
Josie will work with her handler, Jessica Saenz, a Public Safety Aide.
The UCLA PD wants the community to meet Josie and invites them to stop and greet her and PSA Saenz.
