HOLLYWOOD—Well a disaster movie took the top spot at the box-office, as “San Andreas” rattled moviegoers with an impressive $53.2 million. Many speculated that “San Andreas” would do battle with “Pitch Perfect 2,” “Tomorrowland” and “Mad Max: Fury Road” for the top spot. Not really, cause the movie blew past its competition.

“Pitch Perfect 2” landed in second place with just under $15 million. The Barden Bellas are on their way to crossing the $200 mark at the domestic box-office. Falling to third place is “Tomorrowland” with $13.8 million. With such a hasty start, the Disney adventure will be lucky if it crosses the $100 million mark at the domestic box-office.

“Mad Max: Fury Road” is going to be the sleeper hit of the summer. The film stood its ground taking in another $13.6 million to land in fourth place. So far the reboot of the 80s classic has amounted over $115 million.

Rounding out the top five is the superhero epic “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” with another $10.9 million to its tally. While the movie still has legs at the box-office, it might top out at $450 million at the domestic box-office. This weekend sees the release of the “Entourage” flick and horror returns with “Insidious: Chapter 3.”
