SANTA MONICA—On September 21, the Santa Monica Police Department announced it was celebrating National Forensic Science Week, which runs from September 20 to September 26, to recognize the work of the department’s Forensic Section.
Personnel in this section process chemicals, compare latent fingerprints, and investigate crime scenes. The Consortium of Forensic Science Organizations organizes the event, which was first held in 2002. Its purpose is to recognize forensic experts who work behind the scenes, promote new forensic technology, promote forensic education, and increase public awareness.
The SMPD is accepting job applications for a Latent Fingerprint Examiner. Pay starts at $32 an hour, and all applications must be submitted by October 9 at 5 p.m.
