MALIBU—On June 15, the city of Malibu released a statement announcing that the National Weather Service Station in Los Angeles/Oxnard issued a weather advisory for the Malibu Coast, running from June 14 thru Thursday, June 18, at night.

A Coastal Flood Advisory has been issued, running from 6 p.m. on June 14, through 2 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17. High tides and strong surf are expected, including waves 3 to 6 feet high that pose a danger to swimmers, surfers, beachgoers, and others.  These conditions can pull people away from the shore, pull them under the water, and sweep them off structures.

High tides pose a risk of causing flooding in low-lying areas, and the peak danger is predicted to span from 8 p.m. Monday to midnight.

The city advised citizens to not driving through flooded areas, protecting property, staying out of the water, staying close to lifeguard stations, and staying in the designated area from rocks and jetties while on the beach.
